Cardiac Team Tyrone County HospitalCardiology Services

  • Pre-hospital cardiac care is provided by a mobile coronary care service in conjunction with the ambulance service
  • Outpatient clinics, rapid access chest pain clinic, heart failure clinic and a secondary prevention clinic
  • Cardiac rehabilitation service.

Rehabilitation Unit

  • The rehabilitation unit is used to care for patients coming from the Erne and Altnagelvin Hospitals
  • The unit caters for stroke rehabilitation patients
  • The unit also provides rehabilitation for patients after they have sustained a fracture.

Surgical Services

  • The day procedure unit includes 4 theatres, recovery and a ward unit
  • A broad range of planned surgical day procedures are provided such as ear, nose and throat, general surgery, ophthalmology, pain management and endoscopy services
  • Ear, nose and throat day cases are also carried out at Tyrone County Hospital.

Palliative Care

Palliative care services have been established at Tyrone County Hospital and we are working towards providing inpatient facilities for symptom control, respite and end of life care.

 

Women’s Centre 

This centre centrally hosts a range of women-focused services for local women who previously travelled to Altnagelvin or the Erne Hospital.  The full range of services include:

  • Midwifery bookings and review clinics
  • Anti D Clinics for mothers who are Rh negative blood type
  • Fetal Assessment Unit
  • Consultant gynaecology clinics
  • Infertility clinics.

Urodynamics Clinic

Urodynamics is a specialised test to identify bladder problems so that the treatment provided, whether in tablet form or an operation, is the best and safest approach for each individual patient. As well as urodynamics, this specialist service includes colposcopy (management of abnormal smears) and continence management. 


Sexual Health Clinic

A new Sexual Health clinics was introduced at Tyrone County Hospital in 2010 operating from the Outpatients Department from 1.30pm-4.30pm on Wednesday afternoons. The clinic is managed by a full multidisciplinary team and provides a comprehensive service for people concerned about sexually transmitted infections and their sexual health in general. Appointments can be made by telephoning (028) 7161 1269 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Chemotherapy outreach clinics have also been established in the hospital and new Wet Age-related Macular Degeneration (Wet AMD) services will soon be introduced on site as well.
