   Recovery College 2016 Prospectus Launch 

The Trust provides specialist mental health teams based on the recovery ethos and focused on the needs of those with severe and enduring mental health problems. Recovery services also include:

A range of nurse staffed community based hostels;
A range of supported housing projects;
A range of day care services

 

Recovery Service Mission Statement   

Mental Health Recovery Services in the Western Trust exist to support people with serious and enduring mental health problems in their personal journey towards recovery. Services are underpinned by the principles of a person centred, strengths based approach, recognising the unique skills, creativity and expertise both of the service user and the helper. The guiding principles of autonomy, fairness, protection, dignity and respect are integral to the therapeutic alliance.

Aim

To meet the mental health care needs of service users with severe and enduring illness by making the best of available resources to provide accessible, effective and timely interventions and to support service users to develop hope, resilience, independence, and ultimately to lead meaningful lives.

Objectives:

  • To ensure that every service user is offered the chance to develop a personal Wellness Recovery Action Plan.
  • To ensure that every service user is responded to in a professional manner and treated with empathy and compassion.
  • To provide specialist rehabilitative services for those with more severe and complex illness.
  • To promote choice and assistance to participate in a range of day opportunities.
  • To offer a range of housing and supported living opportunities.
  • To offer vocational assessment, explore employment/education potential and support to retain or gain a job.
  • To provide support, education and respite where indicated to allow carers to actively participate in the recovery process.
  • To provide peer led support groups, promoting development of personal skills and resilience.
  • To promote the involvement of service users and carers in the planning and delivery of services.
  • To actively manage and support service users to take risks to effect positive outcomes.
  • To develop recovery education centres.
  • To facilitate smooth transitions between services.
