Industrial Action - Latest Information

07/01/2020

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Trades Union members will take Strike Action on Wednesday 8 January. The Western Trust anticipates some disruption to services during the planned 12-hour strike period.

Potential impact is as follows:
  • 253 outpatient appointments have been postponed for Wednesday 8 January.
  • There will be seven treatment rooms closed at GP surgeries on Wednesday 8 January across the Western Trust area. These are Omagh, Belleek, Strabane, Great James Street, Claudy, Dungiven and Waterside treatment rooms. There will be a reduced level of service at Enniskillen, Lisnaskea and Irivinestown treatment rooms.
  • There will be a reduced level of district nursing service provided across the Trust, similar to public holiday cover.
  • There will be a reduced level of rapid response nursing provided across the Trust, similar to public holiday cover.
  • Seven school vaccination clinics have been postponed for Wednesday 8 January. These clinics have been rescheduled.
The Trust continues to regularly review the situation. As ever our top priority is to ensure and maintain patient safety. Given the reduction in staffing levels anticipated, the Western Trust has regrettably taken the decision to cancel some non-emergency services. Clinically urgent appointments and procedures will proceed.

Affected patients have been contacted directly and all new information will be posted on the Western Trust’s website and on our social media channels. Unless you have been contacted please arrive for your appointment as planned.

There is further Strike Action planned by RCN and UNISON on Friday 10 January. An update will be issued on Thursday 9 January
