The Trust has a number of career paths offering employment opportunities for:

  • individuals who have left school with no formal qualifications
  • individuals who have some qualifications academic or vocational but who did not progress on to further education
  • individuals who are already working towards a professional qualification
  • and individuals who are already professionally qualified

There are a range of career paths which new entrants and existing staff can apply for depending on their qualifications and experience.

For more information about Health and Social Care Team job roles, qualifications required, experience required and career pathways see the DHSSPS Health and Social Care Team Career Handbook.  This also provides details of further useful contacts such as professional bodies, colleges and universities who will be able to provide up to date information on courses and relevant entry requirements. Please note that some of the job roles listed in the Career Handbook are available across Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland and not specifically within the Western Trust.

Potential employees or current employees who do not have the experience for a particular role may be able to gain relevant experience through the Trust’s Volunteering Service.
