Western Trust thanks Friends of Altnagelvin

The Western Trust has thanked the Friends of Altnagelvin Hospital for their ongoing support and fundraising efforts.

The Friends group recently presented £15,000 worth of gifts for patient use in Altnagelvin.

Elaine Way, Western Trust Chief Executive, said: "I wish to thank the members of the Friends of Altnagelvin for their support. This group of volunteers give generously of their time for a variety of fundraising activities. This fundraising helps to contribute to the comfort of patients and relatives from across the Western Trust area while they are in Altnagelvin Hospital."

Funds raised are used to make provision beyond that which would ordinarily be provided under the National Health Service.

Friends of Altnagelvin Chairperson Karen Love and a number of other committee members presented the £15,000 worth of gifts recently.

Ms Love said: "Thanks to the generosity of the public through donations and support for the committee's fundraising efforts we have been able to buy a range of items for various wards in the hospital. Items bought recently include recliner chairs, CD players, radios, hairdryers and hair dressing equipment.

"The Friends of Altnagelvin Committee thanks everyone who continues to support our fundraising. We would not be able to do what we do without the support of the public and we would love to hear from others interested in getting involved or finding out more about the Friends."
