23/04/2012
A service of thanksgiving and celebration organised by the Hospital Chaplaincy Team and Western Trust to mark the life of the Erne Hospital was held on Sunday 22 April 2012.
The service provided an opportunity to reflect on the commitment and dedication of staff past and present in providing care to patients and their relatives over the past fifty years. Those who attended enjoyed meeting colleagues and friends and reminiscing over their experience of working at the Erne.
Speaking at the event Western Trust Chairman Gerard Guckian said: “I am delighted to be part of this historic event and I would like to thank all staff past and present who have provided such outstanding service to the local community over the past fifty years.”
Western Trust Chief Executive Elaine Way said: “I would like to thank the Hospital Chaplains for organising this important service and the Fermanagh Choral Society and soloist Sharon Keenan who enhanced the liturgy with their beautiful singing.”
As part of the celebrations, an exhibition showing images of life at the Erne over the five decades was unveiled and was very well received by those attending. Commenting on the exhibition Western Trust Chief Executive Elaine Way said: “We are truly thankful for the dedication and professionalism of our staff over the past fifty years and look forward to the next chapter in the provision of healthcare to the people of Fermanagh and Tyrone at the new South West Acute Hospital.”
