£5.43m contracts awarded to prepare the site for the Omagh Enhanced Local Hospital The Western Trust is pleased to announce the award of two significant works contracts with a combined value of £5.43million to prepare the site for the new Omagh Enhanced Hospital at the grounds of the Tyrone and Fermanagh Hospital, Omagh.

The water and sewerage contract has been awarded to Fox Contracts and the link road between the Donaghanie Road and Crevanagh has been awarded to White Mountain Quarries / Coffey.

Welcoming the award for the two site preparation contracts Elaine Way, Western Trust Chief Executive commented: “The enabling works demonstrates the Western Trust’s continued commitment to the Enhanced Local Hospital project with this preparatory work allowing the main construction scheme to begin building on site in summer 2013. 

Commenting on the announcement of the successful tender for the two major contracts Michael MacCrossan, Western Trust Project Lead said: “The final two enabling schemes will result in a total spend in recent years of £16million on enabling works and associated fees. This combined with the land acquired and the upcoming construction contract is an investment of approximately £105million for phase 1 of the enhanced local hospital project.”

Alan Moore, Western Trust Director of Strategic Capital Development concluded: “The completion of the link road between the Donaghanie Road and Crevanagh Road will assist with traffic management during the two year construction of the hospital as well as improving the existing and future traffic flows in the area. We look forward to working with the two contractors to ensure that the work is completed to the highest standard and within the agreed timescale.”
