Emergency Medicine Consultant joins Helicopter Emergency Medical Service

Emergency Medicine Consultant joins Helicopter Emergency Medical Service A Western Trust Consultant in Emergency Medicine has joined the new Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) that is now providing a trauma service to the most critically ill patients throughout Northern Ireland.

Consultant Campbell Brown, based at South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen has been recruited as part of this service, and is delighted to join the HEMS team.

Commenting on being part of the new service, Campbell Brown said: “I am particularly looking forward to helping to ensure that the people of Northern Ireland are able to access top quality trauma care regardless of location. From working in Fermanagh for so many years, I know how isolated some rural areas can be. Our rapid response time to trauma could be the difference between life and death. I am delighted to be part of this fantastic new service.”

Campbell continued: “I would particularly like to thank the Trust senior management team for their continued support as I take on this new challenge.”

Geraldine McKay, Director of Acute Services for the Western Trust said: “I would like to express my full support for Dr Brown as he takes on this extremely important new role within this team, and I wish him well.”
