What Matters To You Day

‘What matters to you?’ day - Wednesday 6th June 2018

‘What matters to you?’ day aims to encourage and support more meaningful conversations between people who provide health and social care and the people, families and carers who receive health and social care.

On Wednesday 6th June the Trust highlighted the 'What Matters To You' Day initiative. Following a period of planning and creativity by a host of service areas across the Trust, the judges visited our 6 shortlisted winners in the ‘What Matters to You’ Day Suggestion Tree Competition.

Congratulations to everyone who 'got involved' and played their part in making this such a very successful initiative and well done to our six award winners on the day.

Our judges were really impressed by the creativity and endeavour of everyone who took part, not to mention the terrific engagement seen in every area, and all participants will receive their 'What Matters To You' Certificates in recognition of their efforts.

What Matters To You? Day 2018 - in the Western Trust

On Wednesday 6th June 2018 the Trust will be highlighting the ‘What Matters to You’ Day.  The focus for this initiative is to get views from patients and service users on what really matters to them, and to use this feedback to make changes and create a better experience of health and social care services.

In order to gather feedback from patients and service users and to ensure engagement, the Trust is running a competition in the lead up to the 'What Matters To You Day' by showcasing the best #WMTY2018 Suggestion Trees from across the Western Trust region.

The competition is open to staff who work with patients or service users in wards, departments and facilities. Staff are encouraged to design and display a ‘What Matters to You’ tree in a prominent place in their service area, ask patients/service users the question ‘What Matters to You?’, and invite them to write their thoughts/comments on a ‘leaf’ to be added to the tree.

Trees should be designed collaboratively between staff and patients/service users, and the ‘leaves’ should be added to the tree gradually as conversations about what matters to them take place naturally in the days leading up to the ‘What Matters to You’ Day.  Staff are encouraged to bring creativity and flair to their tree, and perhaps incorporate their own theme for the initiative.

To enter the competition, staff must complete and submit a short form, available here, along with a maximum of 3 photographs of their tree in full bloom to denise.mulgrew@westerntrust.hscni.net by 1:00pm on Friday 1st June 2018.  Entries will be shortlisted, and the judges plan to visit the shortlisted areas on Wednesday 6th June 2018 to see the trees, talk to staff and patients/service users, take photographs and announce the winners.

We hope that this initiative will give patients and service users a novel way of telling us what would make a difference to them, and also give staff a greater sense of satisfaction knowing that they have made some of the requested changes.
