You may soon be coming into Altnagelvin Area Hospital. This can be an anxious time for you and your family and friends. We hope our website will help by giving you some information about what to expect.
When you receive your letter of admission, you should also receive a useful information booklet containing all the information you need. You should let your relatives and carers read it too.
Your letter will tell you which ward you should come to. Sometimes we have to move patients to different wards so that we can make the best use of beds. Even if you are moved to another ward, you will still be under the care of the same consultant.
If you’re not sure exactly why you are coming into hospital, do contact your GP, or your consultant’s secretary, or the ward. They will be happy to explain. When you get here, if you are still not sure, or there is any part of your treatment that you don’t understand, one of the nursing team or the ward sister will be happy to answer any questions.
So that we can make suitable arrangements, please let us know before you arrive if you are on a special diet, or have any disability or allergies. Ring the ward a few days before your admission date and tell the ward sister. |
