When you arrive for admission |
When you arrive, go to the Admissions Office on the ground floor. Staff at any of the reception desks will direct you.
When your details have been checked you will go to the ward. If needed, a porter will go with you. On the ward, a nurse will show you to your bed and tell you what will happen next. If you have a friend or a relative with you, they will be asked to wait outside until you are settled.
Usually we will ask you to get undressed and into bed. A nurse or doctor will take some details and check your temperature and blood pressure. If you are having an operation, we may have to give you blood during the operation (a transfusion) so we will take a routine blood sample to check your blood group and make sure you are not anaemic.
