The usual visiting times are daily from 2pm - 3pm and 7pm - 8pm. If these times don't suit family or friends, most wards will allow visitors at other times, except during rest periods and main meal breaks. In the Children's Unit, we like to have all visitors, except parents, away by 7pm so we allow visiting anytime from 2pm - 7pm. Spruce House on the Altnagelvin site, has open visiting from 11am to 9pm every day. Children should visit in the afternoons, where possible - children under 12 may not be allowed to visit some wards. Parents of young children in hospital may visit at any time. Patients usually look forward to visiting times. But they can be tiring, so if you are a patient, tell your visitors if you are getting tired. They will understand. Nursing staff may restrict visitors to two at a time, especially if patients have been very ill, so that they don't get overtired. |
