Ward Activities

Here in the Waterside Hospital we have an activity programme co-ordinated by the Activity Therapy Nurse. Programmes are designed to suit each individual’s needs and wishes.

We concentrate on past interests, lifestyle and experiences, combining physical movement, skill preservation and development, sensory awareness and general involvement. As example we provide:

  • 24-hour orientation
  • Reminiscence Therapy
  • Dramatherapy
  • Art
  • Storytelling
  • Social Outings
  • Singalongs
  • Film shows
  • Concerts
  • Aromatherapy

An up-to-date information board is located in the main corridor, providing information on daily and forthcoming events within the ward and throughout the hospital. As these activities are incorporated into the patient’s day to day care, we welcome involvement or interest from relatives/carers.

Visiting

The hospital is open for visiting from 11.00 am – 8.00 pm daily. Visiting outside these hours can be organised with the ward sister/deputy. While flexible visiting is encouraged in the hospital, we would appreciate the co-operation of visitors on the ward and ask you to understand that for the patient’s dignity and privacy, there may be occasions when you may be asked to leave clinical areas.

The front doors are closed at 8.30 pm. To exit after this time, please contact nursing staff on the ward visited.
