LEARNING DISABILITY SERVICES Assessment, treatment and therapeutic intervention for people across the Foyle area with learning disabilities is available at Lakeview Hospital. The new Hospital, provides 43 in-patient assessment and treatment beds, and opened in May 2005. Respite and residential services are provided through a range of community based facilities and day care is provided in a variety of settings such as Adult Training Centres, Resource Centres, Workshops and Horticultural and Community Training Units. Multi-disciplinary teams of medical, nursing, allied health professionals, therapeutic, social work and other health care staff provide treatment and care. This important work is supported by host family placements for children, together with adult support schemes in family settings.
