Gynaecology - Oncology services are provided under the division of Diagnostics and Cancer Services


The specialism of gynaecology-oncology treats patients with a cancer of the uterus, ovary, vulva, vagina and cervix.


The clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in Gynae-oncology provides support advice and information to patients undergoing investigation for suspect cancer and confirmed diagnosis. She is point of contact (key worker) for patients with a diagnosed gynaecology cancer. The CNS assesses patients need and makes onward referral to other health care professional and support services as required. She is involved in education and raising awareness of gynaecology cancers among patient, health care professionals and the public. Other duties of the CNS include a nurse led clinic for cervical smear sampling after colposcopy treatment.
