Orthophysician role & Hip Fracture Care

Orthophysicians are consultants specialising in medicine. They aim to see patients within seventy two hours of admission to assess your overall health needs in detail, they will supervise your rehabilitation, assess your risk of future fractures and falls, they may recommend changes to you medications to reduce these risks.

The hospital takes part in the National Hip Fracture Database, which has been set up to improve the services for patients with fractured neck of femurs.  A nurse from the department will collect details on you hospital admission, and carryout telephone reviews throughout the year to monitor your progression, information collected is confidential and anonymous.
